How long is the MSI Eco warranty?
The MSI Eco comes with a 4-year warranty in the UK
Can I claim the UK government OZEV grant when installing an MSI Eco charger?
Absolutely. The MSI Eco Series meets the required smart charging technical standards set by OZEV. Eligible customers—such as flat owner-occupiers, renters, or commercial landlords—can claim government grant support toward the cost of purchasing and installing the charger through an OZEV-approved installer.
Has the product passed safety certification? Is there insurance coverage in case of an incident?
Your electrical safety is our top priority. All MSI chargers undergo rigorous international testing and are backed by high‑value liability insurance:
Product liability insurance: To protect user interests, MSI provides 3.9 million GBP product liability insurance, including third‑party liability coverage.
Safety certifications:
UK: UKCA | Europe: CE / CB, IEC 61851‑1, IEC 62196‑1, IEC 62196‑2, IEC 62893‑2, EN 17186:2019, EN 18061
This means MSI chargers meet recognized national and international safety standards from design through manufacturing, ensuring safe, reliable operation wherever they are installed.
Where is the password for initial charger setup? What if I forget it?
The factory default account and connection password are printed on the product warranty card and on a sticker inside the charger housing. Please check there first.
If your warranty card is lost and the internal sticker is unreadable, please contact MSI customer service or technical support for assistance.
Security notice: To protect your equipment security, MSI does not offer a public password lookup channel. Customer service will verify your identity and device serial number (S/N) before assisting with a password reset to prevent unauthorized access.
Which vehicles are compatible with the Eco Series charger?
Virtually all commercially available electric vehicles are compatible.
What are the charging speeds of the Eco Series charger?
The MSI Eco Series supports flexible single‑phase and three‑phase configurations for efficient AC charging. Actual speeds depend on your installation and vehicle efficiency.
Single‑phase (7 kW ): Provides approximately 35–77 km of range per hour.
For a vehicle with an 80 kWh battery, charging from 20 % to 80 % takes roughly 5–8 hours, ideal for overnight home use or workday parking.
Three‑phase (22 kW):
Provides approximately 110–150 km of range per hour.
For the same 80 kWh battery, charging from 20 % to 80 % takes about 2.5–3 hours, suitable for faster workplace, retail, or fleet charging.
Note: Range added per hour varies by vehicle energy consumption and onboard charger limits.
Is outdoor installation and use really okay?
The MSI Eco Series is designed for harsh environments and has outstanding weather resistance and protection:
- Dust and water protection: IP65 rated, providing complete dust sealing and resistance to water jets.
- Environmental testing: Passed rigorous salt spray (corrosion resistance), high-altitude (3,000m), and extreme operating temperature (-30°C to 55°C) testing.
Whether facing coastal salt corrosion, high-altitude conditions, or intense summer heat, the product maintains stable operation. You can confidently install it outdoors or in parking facilities.
How can I get help if I have an issue? (Eco Series)
You can get the help you need quickly through one of the following options:
1️⃣ Self-service support
Visit the official website to download the product manual, watch instructional videos, or browse the FAQ for troubleshooting. https://evse.msi.com/resources/download
2️⃣ Contact customer service
If online resources do not resolve your issue, please contact evseik@msi.com
The charger is set to 'online mode' but the app shows 'offline'. What should I do?
If the app shows offline, this can usually be resolved by power cycling the unit:
1️⃣ Power off: Turn off the upstream power switch for the charger.
2️⃣ Wait: Keep the power off for at least 30 seconds to allow the capacitors to fully discharge.
3️⃣ Restart: Turn the power back on and wait for the device to complete its system check and reconnect to the network.
If the connection still does not recover, check the following and contact your network installer for assistance:
1️⃣ Network quality: Check whether the network connection at the charger's location is stable and uninterrupted.
2️⃣ Connection settings: Confirm the device has successfully obtained an IP address, or try rechecking the network configuration in the app.
Why is the charging history in the MSI aConnect app incorrect?
1️⃣ Incorrect Charging History Time
The Eco Series charger doesn't have a built-in clock. It syncs the time from your phone each time you connect. If the charger loses power, the time may drift. Simply reconnect your phone to bring it back in sync.
2️⃣ Charging History Missing
Charging history is stored temporarily on the charger and retrieved each time your phone connects. To keep your history complete, connect regularly. The charger holds up to 180 session logs, and once that limit is reached, the oldest entries will be replaced by new ones.
